URGENT Please Help Will Find A Forever Home

Will was hit by a car, was going to be put to sleep, was rescued, got medical attention, is going to be all better, but he really, really needs a forever home (inside kitty status). Please pass this on to everyone you know, especially if they are in, around or close to the Upstate of South Carolina.

We first heard of Will from our new friend Robin in CT, our good friend from CoveredInCatHair.com so what follows in from her original posts (used with her permission) and our dear friend Jenna, the Super Hero who helped Sister Dolly so much.

Robin posted the following on her blog on 11/5:

Greenville, SC Kitty hit by car

help wills please

NEWSFLASH: Injured cat needs help ASAP. I don't have a way to raise funds since I'm not a non-profit, but I can either ask you to contact me and let me know if you can help out with a donation and we can put our efforts together. I know people in Greenville, who I have already contacted to see if they can get the cat to a Vet now and we can figure out how to get money to them tomorrow (Friday, Nov. 6).

NAME: Will

ANIMAL ID: 9059850

BREED: dsh

SEX: male

APPROXIMATE AGE: 1yr

APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 7-8 lbs

HEALTH: hit by car

TEMPERAMENT: friendly

RESCUE PULL FEE: $

ADDITIONAL INFO: this cat came in hit by car they believe he is very
friendly despite his face being wounded

UPDATE: needs to leave immediately

Please someone help this kitty out - he was hit by a car and brought to the shelter. What a sweet cat and he needs medical attention badly. If you can help, your contact is Andrea at animalcareservices@greenvillecounty.org.

If you can't rescue yourself, please cross post widely and let's get this baby some help!

Then we saw the 1st update from Robin also on 11/5:

Tiny update: I just emailed Andrea to ask her to fill me in on what Will needs and if he can recover from his injuries. I'm also looking into having one of our rescue friends set up a ChipIn widget to collect funds. Stay tuned-more things will be made clear tomorrow and I will update you as soon as I know more. Until then-thank you for the ReTweets. Getting the word out is VITAL to help save this guy's life.

Then the 2nd update on 11/6:

I just heard from Jenna in Greenville, SC. She's the one I took six kittens from last month. She has contacted Dr. Anderson, of the Cat Clinic of Greenville (who cared for the kittens before I got them) and she is willing to take WILL as soon as they can make the arrangements.

This is all hinging on hearing back from Andrea, who is the contact person regarding Will's care. Once she gives us the OK, Jenna will transport Will to Dr. Anderson. When I find out what Will is going to need for Vet care, I will be posting a request for donations to help him out.

More on how to help Will, once we hear from Andrea and get Will to see Dr. Anderson.

Then the 3rd update on 11/6:

Will is going to be picked up in an hour by Dr. Anderson! The poor baby has had to wait this long to get any medical care. What a crime this is!!!

I'm VERY GRATEFUL to Jenna for getting the ball rolling and to Dr. Anderson and her staff for being willing to take on this homeless patient.

Later today I hope to get more information about Will's injuries and what sort of financing we will need to put together for him. Also, more than anything, Will is going to need a FOSTER HOME or RESCUE GROUP to step up to take him once he is stable. Again, when I have more information as to his condition, needs, prognosis I'll ask you guys to really PUSH the word out there so we can help this little fella out. Thank you all, again for your care and concern for Will.

Then the 4th update on 11/9:

Will, the poor little cat who was hit by a car on Friday, is doing well. His Vet and caretaker, Dr. Anderson said that the swelling around his eye is improving and he shouldn't need corrective surgery. He has a cut on the inside of his mouth and no other injuries. Though the Dr. is fairly sure this was from the impact of a car, she can't rule out that Will wasn't hit by a person. It's a sad fact that animal abuse happens and Will might be a victim of that. We'll never really know.

What we do know is Will is going to be neutered this week! He already has his shots on board, had his "combo test" for Feline Leukemia and FIV. He failed each test beautifully! With de-worming and a dose of Revolution, Will will be ready to be adopted as soon as late this week!

We're having a tiny technical problem getting Will's ChipIn widget up and running. He won't need much in donations, so this will be an easy save for us! I hope you guys can help out once we're ready.

What Will needs more than anything, is to FIND A FOREVER HOME or to be taken in by a rescue group. Though they prefer he stays locally, Will can easily be transported anywhere in the Northeast and outside of that, transport can be arranged, as well.
I'm told that they don't get any sweeter or more friendly than Will, so if you step up, you're getting a marvelous new friend! Later today I should have updated photos of Will to make it easier to get the word out and for his new family to fall in love with him!

Now then for the latest

please help me

Will is also listed on PetFinder.com

The nice and wonderful ladies at Kat5Rescue (@Kat5Rescue on Twitter), using ChipIn, were able to raise the needed funds for Will's medical bills, they are SUPER HEROS!!!

Jenna, the wonderful lady who help out Sister Dolly, has been working real hard to help Wills from the start of this. Jenna is the one who took him to the Cat Clinic of Greenville and Dr. Anderson there has been caring for him. Dr. Anderson says that although the side of his face has been hit and his eye is quite swollen and the top of his mouth has a cut inside, he is on antibiotics and should recover to be 100% in about a week or two. Jenna tells us that he is beyond a lovebug, and believe me, she was absolutely correct about Sister Dolly too!

Tell everyone you know and let's find Will the purrfect forever home! Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!! Purrrr! Zip! Later!

Tabby Tuesday

We've been a bit busy lately trying to keep Tabs (pun intended) on our new Sister Dolly, but it is still very important that we get our rest when we can. After all, a tabby has got to do what a tabby has got to do.

Tabby Tuesday Times Two

Sister Gracie and I decided to do some serious reclining and it was pretty relaxing too. Of course being King, I decided to take the the upper level so I could keep an eye on things. As it turns out, actually I had a difficult time keeping an eye on anything because both of my eyes were closed for a long, long time. But, then again, I guess that is what serious reclining is all about isn't it? Sister Gracie was such a big help too, she reclined with both eyes closed every bit as long as I did. I sure appreciate her help too, especially since it was Tabby Tuesday. Catch ya later! Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!!! Purrrr! Zip! Later!

How Is Sister Dolly Doing

I must admit, I've gotten that question a lot this past week. Not only did the bloggers want to know, I've heard that question from my Twitter and Facebook friends as well. So how is Sister Dolly doing anyways? Here, you tell me.

Dolly shares the coveted window seat with me

As you can tell, Sister Dolly is doing great. In our home the window seat is one of those special places that we all like. Well, it was very special for me to share the window seat with Sister Dolly for the first time. This weekend she was totally out n' about all day long, totally unrestricted, and she did fine. She is still sleeping at night in her own private bedroom, not because she is bad or anything, it's because she is still snooping out everything in our home. I suspect that will change before too long because Sister Dolly is adapting very quickly. Of course I'll let you know how it goes...I can't help myself. Remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!! Purrrr! Purrs 4 Peace Week 22

#purrs4peace Hello everyone, we're participating in Purrs 4 Peace Week 22. This weeks Purrs4Peace has us purring extra hard because A CIRCUS ISN'T FUN FOR THE ANIMALS.

Purrs4Peace
Please join us in Purrs4Peace

Confucius Cat says there is no real PEACE in a world were animals are treated with cruelty.

Why should man expect his prayer for mercy to be heard by What is above him when he shows no mercy to what is under him? ~Pierre Troubetzkoy

The Circus is supposed to be a place of amazement, adventure, entertainment... fun. But what is FUN for humans comes at a high price for the animals who are enslaved there and essentially subjected to torture to force them to perform tricks.

A circus elephant trainer was caught on tape saying "Sink that hook into ‘em ... when you hear that screaming then you know you got their attention. … "

Most animals who perform in the circus were meant to live in the wild. They must be trained to do these “acts” often by traumatic methods such as with the bull hooks driven into tender areas of the elephant’s body to make it cooperate referred to by the trainer quoted above. Animals are shocked, whipped, hit with baseball bats and pipes, drugged, burned...the list goes on.

The lives of performing animals on the road is not humane. According to the ASPCA it is “not unusual for performing animals to travel in fetid railroad cars for up to 50 weeks out of the year. Confined in small cages or by short chains for 20 or more hours a day when not performing, they live in environments that bear no semblance to their natural habitats.”

The ASPCA has supported a ban on use of animals in circus entertainment as a result of these factors.

And once these animals are too old to perform, they most often permanently caged, sold to be hunted, or sold for lab research.

What can we do:

* Do not attend or otherwise financially support any circus that utilizes live animals in their performances.
* Petition for and support legislation on local, state and federal level to ban such animal entertainment.

This week we will do one more thing...we purr. We purr to soothe the suffering of these animals. We purr for the enlightenment of the humans who control these animals. We purr to free these animals. We purr for PEACE.

Please stop by and visit the Confucius Cat's Blog, he is after all, our fearless leader on the Purrs 4 Peace project.

The appointed time for Week 22 is Sunday, November 8, 2009. Participants should purr for three minutes commencing at 11:00 a.m.. EDT (U.S.) which is 4:00 p.m. (16:00 hrs.) BST in the U.K. The cat's human staff should assist their cats with the project by stroking and nuzzling the cat at the appointed time.

T.G.I.F. Today's Gift

Boy it sure has been a busy week hasn't it? Friday is here again and we're indeed ready for the weekend. Today T.G.I.F. means Today's Gift Is Feathers.

Today's Gift Is Feathers

I don't know about you, but in our home we're all pretty crazy about anything feather. Gets our pounce a pouncing for sure! What about you, do you like feathers too?

So what's up this weekend? I have to say that I'm not really sure. The time change has got us a little confused...it just seems to get dark a little bit too early. I guess we'll have to see what happens because we really don't have any big plans. We'll have to try and help Sister Dolly with adjusting to her new home, but she is actually doing pretty good on her own. I suspect we might get some window whiffin' time if it is warm enough. The rest we'll just play by ears. Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend and we will see you next week. Don't forget Purrs4Peace on Sunday. And remember, adopt cats, we deserve it!!! Purrrr! Zip! Later!

Dona Nobis Pacem

Grant Us Peace

We are honored to be participating in the annual Blog Blast for Peace. This year the motto is Dona Nobis Pacem, which in latin means Grant Us Peace. There is simply too much turmoil in the world and we all need to do our part to be good citizens of the world. We need to make a positive contribution to peace in everything we do. Is it easy? Of course not, or we would already be there. Is it possible? Absolutely!!! So where do we start? Start with yourself. Peace is in each of us, it really is. Some just let it show more often than others, but it is there, even if it is buried deep within you. Make an effort to let it out and then share it with others. Could it be that if we all did this that we could spread peace quickly throughout the world? It could very well happen. The only thing that is certain is that if we never try then it never will happen. Peace really is in each of us...let's share!

Tabby Tuesday by Sister Zoe

Hello everyone, it's me, Sister Zoe. My big Brother Brian was kind enough to let me do the Tabby Tuesday blog today. That was very nice of Brother Brian too because I was just a wee bit excited. Why? I got an award, yep, I really did and I was so excited. Penny from Cat of Nine Tales received the famous Island Princess Award and passed it on to some other "Sisters", me included because Penny said I've been an Apprentice Princess long enough. Thanks Penny for sharing with me, I sure am proud of the award.

Sister Zoe the Island Princess

Oops, isn't Sister Sascha the only Princess here??? Well, Sister Sascha was very gracious and said that I could be the Island Princess since I got the award and all. It must be because I haven't been chasing her as often. Thanks Sister Sascha!

Oh yea, I almost forgot Tabby Tuesday...Sister Gracie and I thought we would get close on Tabby Tuesday, so here ya go...me and Sister Gracie.

Hello Dolly

Okay, this really isn't the first Hello Dolly, because I did post the breaking news that we had a new sister. This is the first Hello Dolly where she came out of her private bedroom to explore her new home. Yep, Sister Dolly is venturing out.

adopt cats
Sister Dolly ventures out

Little Sister Dolly has had quite an unpleasant journey in life as she worked her way to us. She is a teeny little thing that has been declawed and was dumped out in the pouring rain in an awful neighborhood. Fortunately a very kind human by the name of Jenna mounted a posse in search of her and ultimately they were successful. But after a week on her own, Sister Dolly was very sick and her soft fur was a mess.

So how did we find Sister Dolly. It was fate, pure fate. I happened to be on Twitter tweeting with some friends. If you've never been on Twitter, literally hundreds of messages can zip by very quickly. I just happen to see one from a good rescue friend in GA named @Kat5Rescue. She was passing on an urgent plea for help from a rescue group in CT @KitschKat ran by an absolutely wonderful human named Robin. They were trying to help a poor Dilute Calico in South Carolina. I asked them "where in South Carolina?", because that's where I live. Turns out they were trying to help this poor little thing in the same place I live. It had to be fate! What are the odds of me being at the computer at the right moment to see the right message at the right time.

My Dad started talking with the local rescue lady named Jenna. Now Jenna is a very nice dog rescue human who also helps poor kitties whenever she can. She sure did a wonderful job helping out poor Dolly and who knows what would have happened to her if Jenna hadn't taken an interest in her well being. So from all of us, THANKS JENNA!!! And a special thanks to Robin in CT and @Kat5Rescue in GA for all you do.
